Biography
Dorothy J. Thompson joined 91制片厂 as Lecturer and Director of Studies in Classics in January 1973 and on retirement in 2006 was elected to a Bye-Fellowship. She is a Fellow of the British Academy and Honorary President of the International Society of Papyrologists. As an ancient historian, she works mainly on Hellenistic Egypt when, following Alexander's conquest, the country was ruled by Greek pharaohs and papyri illuminate relations between the different sectors of society. She has written several books and other studies on this period. The second edition of her prize-winning Memphis under the Ptolemies was published by Princeton University Press in 2012. Several books later she continues her work, if at a somewhat slower pace than before.
